ADDER FOCUS XR Review Summary

Billed as a kind of over the counter (OTC) version of the ADHD medication, Adderall. In reality, it is absolutely nothing like Adderall. It is simply an unimpressive natural nootropic supplement with a low quality proprietary blend full of suspect ingredients.

If you read the full ADDER FOCUS XR review you’ll find out why, but if you just want a quick summary, we’ll tell you this: users are unlikely to see a meaningful improvement in cognitive function while using ADDER FOCUS XR.

We wouldn’t like this supplement if it actually did work like Adderall. Adderall acts like amphetamine in the body; ADDER FOCUS XR will be more like a cheap cup of coffee. We strongly advise people to stay away from study drugs like Adderall; they are not meant to enhance cognitive performance. They don’t even seem to help people with ADHD, and their long-term health effects are ruinous. Using them when you do not have attention disorders is not a good idea.

Where To Buy ADDER FOCUS XR

We first came across this stuff on Amazon. While we usually recommend that people buy direct from the manufacturer, we think any company willing to give their product such a scammy name are probably not going to have great customer service. Get it from Amazon if you have to buy it at all.

Full ADDER FOCUS XR Review

Judging by the name, ADDER FOCUS XR is one of those nootropics that tries to bill itself as a kind of OTC alternative to Adderall; the prescription ADHD medication.

We really don’t like it when supplement manufacturers do this.

For one thing, you shouldn’t be playing around with drugs like Adderall. This drug in particular is worrisome; it acts like amphetamine in the body, leading to extreme but short-lived increases in mental energy and focus. Yet this is often counter-productive.

ADDER FOCUS XR Review

Yes, amphetamine gives you more energy. But they don’t do so in a way that is conducive to optimal cognitive performance.

The same is true of Adderall.

That ADDER FOCUS XR wants to be seen as a kind of “over the counter Adderall” is worrying indeed.

But ADDER FOCUS XR is not Adderall, so we can’t just write it off as dangerous or unsuitable.

Linking your natural supplements to pharmaceutical grade drugs is a regrettable marketing tactic, but that is all it is at the end of the day; an ad gimmick.

What is ADDER FOCUS XR actually all about?

What is it supposed to do?

According to the bottle, this is a “pharmaceutical grade supplement”. In this context, this statement is meaningless.

According to the Amazon page run by MD Pharma, the manufacturers, ADDER FOCUS XR is “Doctor recommended and approved”. It would be strange if doctors recommended it but didn’t approve of it, wouldn’t it?

We are also told that it is “maximum strength”. This can only mean that they have made it as strong as they could. We aren’t really interested whether or not they have made the product as strong as possible for their means; we just care if it is strong by our own measurements.

ADDER FOCUS XR adderall replacement?

More specifically, we are told to expect the following benefits from using ADDER FOCUS XR:

  • Immediate increase in focus
  • Improved mental clarity
  • Enhanced memory
  • Greater alertness

That’s enough of looking at the claims of MD Pharma about ADDER FOCUS XR. We need to find out what this product can actually do.

To do that, we need to take a close look at the ingredients, the doses being used, and what other people have been saying about this supplement. All of this will be covered in our full ADDER FOCUS XR review, found below. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments section at the end of the review.

ADDER FOCUS XR Formula – OTC Adderall? Nope!

Here is what the ADDER FOCUS XR formula looks like:

ADDER FOCUS XR formula review

ADDER FOCUS XR doesn’t reveal the full formula specs on the bottle. Instead, many of the most interesting ingredients are listed as part of a homogeneous proprietary blend. This presents a number of fundamental problems; it makes it inherently hard to predict side effects, it prevents you from making a sound buying decision, and you can’t learn from your experiences with them properly. We generally advise people to avoid any large prop blend.

Clearly, the overriding issue with ADDER FOCUS XR is the fact that all of the interesting ingredients are not listed alongside their respective serving sizes.

Instead, they are all bundled into a big proprietary blend.

For the reasons explained above, we always come down harshly on proprietary blends, especially ones that lump so many ingredients together.

The effectiveness of all natural nootropic substances are intrinsically tied to the doses in question.

5mg of rhodiola rosea per day isn’t going to do a great deal.

50mg will.

The ingredient in question is only half the story; we need to know serving sizes to get an accurate feel for how a stack will work.

Why do manufacturers hide the doses form us?

We believe that proprietary blends are usually employed to hide the true cost of a supplement. If your supplement is mostly composed of cheap, everyday ingredients, then nobody will want to buy it. So you throw in some exotic ingredients and hide their pathetic serving sizes behind a proprietary blend.

Some manufacturers claim that their product couldn’t survive in the market if they revealed their formula. Yet plenty of supplement manufacturers reveal each ingredient’s serving size, they survive, and usually they make a killing.

So we don’t think they really have a good excuse. It might be unfair to speculate that these manufacturers are masking a cheap formula, but if they don’t want us to speculate they can prevent us from doing so by simply revealing the formula.

What have they go tot hide?

What About The ADDER FOCUS XR Proprietary Blend?

We dislike all proprietary blends for the same reason. We don’t know how much of each ingredient we’re getting, so we have no idea if we’ll get any benefit from them.

Yet some proprietary blends are much worse than others.

Where does the ADDER FOCUS XR blend stand?

The ADDER FOCUS XR is undoubtedly one of the worse proprietary blends we’ve seen if we think of them as a kind of scale. It has several problems specific to it that really make it stand out as a poor proprietary blend.

It contains several ingredients that offer very little in the way of nootropic benefits.

The main example here is Eleuthero Root. We have no idea why this has been included in a natural nootropic supplement; it has never been shown in a scientific study to bring about any cognitive enhancements whatsoever.

It also uses sub-optimal extracts for key ingredients.

Take the Bacopa monnieri content for example. The extract used in ADDER FOCUS XR is just 20% bacosides by weight. It is the bacosides in Bacopa monnieri which give it its memory-enhancing properties, so it is those compounds that we are most interested in.

Most top-quality, professional-level stacks today use an extract that is over 40% bacosides: twice as strong as the extract in ADDER FOCUS XR!

To get maximum effect from the bacopa monnieri in ADDER FOCUS XR, we would expect to see about 300mg being used. But then that would take up a disproportionate amount of the formula, leaving other ingredients with less formula to go around.

The most serious problem with the ADDER FOCUS XR blend is the fact that it contains ingredients which can cause serious side effects if consumed in large amounts for long periods of time.

The main culprit here is Huperzine A.

Huperzine A inhibits the production of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase (read the cited article to learn more). This is the enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (often called the “learning neurotransmitter” due to its involvement in focus, concentration, and memory formation).

Because Huperzine A shuts down your brains acetylcholine regulation system, over time, acetylcholine levels in the brain become too high. This causes headaches, confusion, and irritability at first. Side effects become more pronounced over time.

ADDER FOCUS XR ingredients Huperzine A

Therefore, you need to cycle Huperzine A regularly to avoid the onset of side effects. But in order to gauge how long a cycle we can run, we need to know how much we’re taking.

Using more than 150mcg per day of Huperzine A can cause side effects by itself, regardless of usage frequency or length of cycle.

Since we don’t know how much Huperzaine A is in each serving of ADDER FOCUS XR, we have no idea how likely side effects are.

There could be 10mcg of Huperzine A per serving.

There could be 600mg per day.

Your guess is as good as ours.

And when it comes to safety, guessing is never a good thing!

ADDER FOCUS XR Review Conclusion

We are seriously disappointed with ADDER FOCUS XR. We started this ADDER FOCUS XR review with a very skeptical mindset, in large part because of the product’s name.

When we analyzed the product closely, we found that our skepticism was justified.

This product tries to position itself as a kind of safe, OTC version of Adderall.

While we didn’t find any of the synthetic stimulants we expected, we did find a weak, low quality proprietary blend.

Proprietary blends always represent poor value for money from the customer’s perspective. It isn’t enough to know what the ingredients are; we need to know how much of them there is in order to really gauge how the product will work for us.

We can’t make an accurate side effect prediction, and we can’t learn from our experiences either since we have no idea what it is that we’ve really been taking.

We believe that manufacturers usually hide behind prop blends to mask how cheap their supplement really is to produce. Maybe that’s not what’s happening here, but we wish MD Pharma didn’t force us to speculate; they should just reveal the formula in full like so many other manufacturers manage to do.

The blend contains useless ingredients, sub-standard extracts, and substances liable to cause side effects if the doses are off.

All in all, a terrible choice for anyone looking for a reliable way to enhance cognitive function naturally.
