Paneuromix FOCUS² Review – Caffeine-Free Nootropic?

FOCUS² Review Summary

We reviewed a Paneuromix product when this site was still in its infancy; the NZT² “limitless pill”. As you can imagine, this review wasn’t particularly positive. We come down harshly on any product which claims to be a “real life limitless pill”; a claim which is always an outright lie.

Unfortunately, our FOCUS² review isn’t much more positive. While this doesn’t claim to be a magic brain pill like NZT², it is an incredibly weak, poorly formulated nootropic. The ingredients are all very vanilla, and there are no big, powerful nootropics in here.

FOCUS² is essentially just a few minerals an amino acids. You have one extract thrown in there, but it’s never going to make a big difference to you cognitive performance. If you are seriously looking for a way to optimize your brain for performance, look elsewhere.

Where To Buy FOCUS²

We first came across FOCUS² nootropic on Amazon. We usually recommend buying directly from the manufacturer, but Paneuromix seem to be operating directly through Amazon. So here the two are one and the same; never a good sign to us!

Full FOCUS² Review

FOCUS² is billed as THE “caffeine-free nootropic”.

According to the makers, Paneuromix, FOCUS² is a “work-study-school aid”. As it is a Dutch company, we think this is a kind of poor translation. Basically, they are telling us that FOCUS² works for business executives, college grads, and students alike.

We reviewed another Paneuromix product a while ago on this site. In fact, it was one of our earliest reviews. We were not overly impressed that product. Called NZT², this supplement was sold as a “real life Limitless pill”, along with all the shady marketing that comes with such outright lies. Well, we are never happy to see something like this being sold to unsuspecting customers.

FOCUS² Review

However, the formula itself wasn’t terrible, and although it had problems, it was not the worst supplement we have ever seen. Not by a long way.

So will FOCUS² be an improvement on that product?

What is FOCUS² all about?

According to the official merchant page, FOCUS² boost mental energy, drive and motivation.

It supposedly enhances focus and concentration.

It promises a clear mind and jitter-free energy.

It also promises to improve overall cognition.

This all sounds great, but of course, we can’t take the manufacturers word on any of this. Supplement producers make all kinds of claims about their products and very few of them deliver. So is FOCUS² legit?

Is FOCUS² really effective at improving focus and concentration? Does it provide “jitter-free” mental energy?

Is it safe? What are the chances of experiencing side effects?

Is it worth the price tag?

Most importantly, is there anything better out there?

Let’s find out. Below you will find our full Paneuromix FOCUS² review. We begin by looking at the formula; the ingredients and the doses used. We will then look at what some FOCUS² customers have been saying about this nootropic. If you have any questions, just post them in the comments section and we’ll respond within 48 hours.

FOCUS² Formula

Here is the Paneuromix FOCUS² formula as it appears on the back of the box:

Paneuromix FOCUS² Formula

You don’t need to be a nootropics expert to realize that this is a pretty thin formula.

Paltry doesn’t quite do this formula justice; it is just a few minerals, two amino acids, and an uninspiring, essentially useless herbal extract.

We were expecting to see an improvement on Paneuromix’s other nootropic, but this is a significant step backward. At least NZT 2 had a few potent nootropics in there and at good doses.

With FOCUS² we don’t get one real nootropic. There’s no cholinergics, there’s no bacopa monnieri, there’s nothing to boost long-term brain function, and nothing capable of bringing about meaningful reductions in stress.

Theanine, magnesium and Tyrosine can all contribute to reduced stress, greater feelings of calmness, and better cognitive performance under stress. Yet they are all dosed well under the minimum amount required to bring about significant improvements.

Theanine and Tyrosine can provide some benefits at lower doses, but not as main ingredients. If they are dosed below 200mg, they need to be part of a comprehensive, powerful stack for us not to mark them down.

To be convinced that these ingredients will deliver some benefits to the majority of users, we’d need to see all of their doses increased significantly.

Paneuromix FOCUS² ingredient gotu kola

Gotu Kola is heralded by some bloggers (those self-styled cognition ‘gurus’) as a powerful mental stimulant. It has been used for centuries as a cognitive enhancer, most commonly in conjunction with Bacopa monnieri. This is why we believe so many people think that it works; because they use it with Bacopa monnieri, which definitely does work.

However, studies supporting this notion are few and far between.

Clinical trials that have noted some kind of cognitive benefit from Gotu Kola administration (like this one looking at anxiety reduction) have used as much as 1000mg daily for a long period of time.

When we some some compelling clinical evidence that Gotu Kola can provide cognitive benefits at the dose provided by FOCUS², we’ll revise our conclusion.

Until then, we think it’s fair to say that users can expect next to nothing in the way of cognitive enhancement from this stack.

What Are Other People Saying About FOCUS²?

We don’t put too much faith in “verified customer reviews”.

For starters, people are very bad judges of what works for them. Someone might start taking a protein supplement at the same time that they start hitting the gym and eating more food. If they get bigger, they’ll attribute their success to the supplement, not the regime change, which would be wrong.

The same thing happens with nootropics.

Yet it is still worth taking a look at what other people are saying about a product in order to get a flavor of what you can expect.

Here is a selection taken from Amazon FOCUS² customer reviews:

FOCUS² Review Conclusion

We started this FOCUS² review with the hope that it would be a massive improvement on Paneuromix’s other nootropic formulations. Unfortunately, it is a very disappointing nootropic unlikely to deliver meaningful benefits to users.

The FOCUS² formula is just a nut extract combined with two amino acids (theanine is being loosely ccalled an amino acid here) and some minerals. Hardly a professional brain enhancing supplement.

While theanine, Tyrosine and magnesium can all confer nootropic benefits (magnesium by addressing deficiencies), the amounts used here are not going to deliver these.

The other ingredients are not going to do anything at all. The only studies showing any cognitive benefit from Gotu Kola use (reduced anxiety) have used 1g per day. FOCUS² provides 100mg per day; see the problem?

The doses of theanine and Tyrosine are low, but some very good nootropic stacks make good use of amounts in this range. That’s because they are used as supporting, peripheral ingredients. In FOCUS² they are the main ingredients.

As such, users cannot expect the same kind of profound cognitive enhancements they might from using a genuinely comprehensive, professional-level nootropic stack.
