Optineuro Xcel Review
Optineurop Xcel is essentially a new and updated version of Nutribioticals’ original, fast-selling nootropic, Optineuro.
The original Optineuro has received plenty of attention, both from consumers and from professional nootropics websites such as ours. While there are ardent fans, the consensus is that it is a weak stack containing far too many useless ingredients. Has Xcel done any better?
Not really. It still contains some pretty useless ingredients. The doses are still wrong in our opinion, and now there is no cholinergic component whatsoever! This is certainly a step down from the original Optineuro, even if the cholinergic content there was tiny. This is a change, but not an improvement.
Much better stacks are available.
Where To Buy Optineuro Xcel
Like its forerunner, we think the vast majority of sales for Optineuro Xcel will be processed through Amazon. In fact, Nutribioticals seem to have Amazon fulfilling all of their orders. Not ideal (for us anyway)!
Full Optineuro Xcel Review
Optineuro Xcel is a new and, we assume, improved version of the original Optineuro nootropic stack from Nutribioticals.
The original Optineuro stack, which we reviewed some time ago, has proven to be incredibly and enduringly popular. Demand for this product has seemingly remained high since it was officially launched, and interest shows no real sign of slowing down.
So, we expect that Optineuro Xcel is not just an attempt to drum up more interest. We expect to see a real, meaningful improvement in the formula here.
So, what is Optineuro Xcel all about?
According to the bottle, this is a “super synergistic blend”. Thankfully, the bottle is also a little more specific about what we can expect in terms of improvements.
Nutribioticals claim that Optineuro Xcel can deliver the following key benefits:
- Enhanced focus
- Improved concentration
- More mental energy
The main purpose of Optineuro Xcel seems to be improving mental energy levels and focus.
It does not seem to be claiming to be a comprehensive, all-in-one nootropic stack like many others reviewed on this site. It is simply aiming to give you an energy boost when you need it most.
So that leaves us with a very simple question to answer: does Optineuro Xcel do this?
Does it actually boost mental energy, focus and concentration?
Is Optineuro Xcel safe? What about side effects?
Is it good value for money?
Most importantly, is there anything better out there?
Let’s find out together. Here is our full Optineuro Xcel review. As always, read the post carefully and if we have missed anything out or if you have any lingering questions, please tell us in the comments.
Optineuro Xcel Formula – Improved Or Just A Shake-Up?
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the original Optineuro formula and the new Optineuro Xcel formula:
As you can see, there have been some subtle changes here.
Some things are still exactly the same. We think it will be easier if we start with the lingering problems in this formula.

Lingering Issues
Some major problems with the original Optineuro have recurred here in Optineuro Xcel.
For starters, the Bacopa monnieri content is far too low.
We aren’t told exactly how strong the extract is, which is why we assume it is not an incredibly potent extract.
The best bacopa monnieri extract currently in use in nootropic stacks is 45% bacosides (the stuff in bacopa that actually enhances memory). At this industry-leading potency, we would like to see about 150mg of bacopa monnieri per serving, not the 100mg in Optineuro Xcel.
The fact that no extract potency is given tells us that it is probably weaker than 45% (otherwise you’d say so). As such, the 100mg of bacopa monnieri in Optineuro Xcel is nowhere near enough to deliver cognitive enhancements as we’d like.
There’s also still some totally useless ingredients in this formula.
We still have the same Coenzyme Q10 serving that we had before. While many supplement manufacturers, beauty product marketers and health bloggers wax lyrical about this stuff, we haven’t seen any evidence that it helps with brain function.
In Optineuro Xcel we do have some new useless ingredients however.
Korean Ginseng is commonly found in natural testosterone boosters (which don’t work). Many people claim that it helps improve fertility, combat impotence, and boost overall subjective well-being, particularly in men.
Evidence for these claims is thin, to put it mildly.
Even if these claims were true, why is it being included in a supplement specifically designed to enhance alertness, focus and concentration?
Finally, we still have the same pointless doses of amino acids in the new Optineuro Xcel formula as we had in the original iteration.
Many people supplement with the likes of Glutamine, Taurine and Tyrosine in order to improve both athletic and mental performance.
However, since these amino acids are found in such great abundance in our diets, supplementation is only meaningful when it is done properly; i.e in large amounts.
If someone is looking to improve their cognitive performance under stress (say when taking an exam), they might utilize Tyrosine. In this instance, the minimum effective dosage would be around 500mg. To optimize performance in a stressful situation, as much as 2g is often recommended.
Optineuro Xcel provides 100mg of Actyl-L-Tyrosine. Yes this is a more readily absorbed form of Tyrosine. No, it is not going to make any difference to your cognitive function.
No Cholinergics!
For some reason, Nutribioticals have decided to not include any cholinergics in Optineuro Xcel.
The original Optineuro formula contained 250mg of choline bitartrate and 50mg of Alpha-GPC.
Optineuro Xcel contains no cholinergic compounds whatsoever.
Yes, this isn’t a reformulation of Optineuro.
But since the original stack is selling so well, and since Nutribioticals clearly know that such compounds have place in a stack designed to improve focus, it’s strange to see them dropped from Optineuro Xcel.
One of our main problems with the original Optineuro formula was that the cholinergic content was so meagre. We would ideally like to see much more Alpha-GPC, or if not a lot more Alpha-GPC, then a little more of both Alpha-GPC and Choline bitartrate.
That Optineuro Xcel contains no cholinergic compounds whatsoever is a major flaw.
Cholinergics can dramatically improve focus, concentration, learning, and mental stamina. We expect to see some cholinergics in a serious, professional, premium nootropic stack.
We see none here.
No Phosphatidylcholine
Another ingredient present in Optineuro but not present in Optineuro Xcel is phosphatidylcholine.
PC is essentially a fatty acid attached to choline molecule.
It is essentially ubiquitous in the human body; in fact, it is the second most prevalent phospholipid in the human body.
It is an absolutely vital part of the cell membrane forming process. PC is a precursor to many of the phospholipids used in cell membranes, and that includes brain cells.
While we don’t think it is necessary to supplement with phosphatidylcholine, like phosphatidylserine we think it can certainly be a good idea if you want to optimize your brain as much as practically possible.
It is a shame to see it left out of the Optineuro Xcel formula, particularly since it is still full of useless ingredients providing very little in the way of nootropic benefits.
Optineuro Xcel Side Effects
The main side effect risk here is obviously the caffeine content.
Quite often, people see guarana and think they’re getting some special form of caffeine.
However, guarana is just a source of caffeine like tea and coffee. it contains more caffeine per gram than coffee beans, but once it is extracted, it is just caffeine.
In Optineuro Xcel, we have actual guarana. It gives us 110mg of caffeine. This isn’t a great deal of caffeine for most people; probably the same amount that you get in two large cups of coffee.
However, if you do have a sensitivity to caffeine, then Optineuro Xcel will cause you problems.
Optineuro Xcel Review Conclusion
We approached this Optineuro Xcel review assuming that this would be a kind of overhauled, supercharged version of the original Optineuro nootropic supplement. We assumed that all of the needless fat would be trimmed, leaving just the pure meat of a quality brain booster.
We want to see fewer (or rather no) useless ingredients, and the poor dosing that plagued the original formula gone with Optineuro Xcel.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get any of this.
Optineuro Xcel is a weak, under-dosed nootropic supplement. It contains no cholinergics, many ingredients will offer no tangible improvements, and the best ingredients are significantly under-dosed.
Users can expect a boost in mental energy, but nothing that a more focused, robust stack wouldn’t give you. Other stacks offer a much wider array of benefits, with more potency, and a lower risk of side effects.
If it is just a quick lift in focus and concentration you want, then a few cups of coffee can probably provide similar benefits to Optineuro Xcel.
